The English countryside is so picturesque. There were sheep dotting the hillsides and hedges and short stone walls marking boundaries. To get to this tiny village, we drove down narrow lanes with tall hedges on either side sometimes so narrow we were glad not to see much traffic. When we met a car coming the other way, Sam had to remember to pull to the left instead of the right. It was when we got on a hill like this one that we were able to see beyond the hedges. This is the area where Sam's family came from – Drewsteignton means “Drew's town on the river Tiegn”.
