Cotswold in the Shire
When we were in England, I wanted to be sure to see the cottages with thatched roofs. So we went down the smaller roads through the Cotswold area on our way from Wales to Devonshire. Thatched roofs are some of character of England that I had read about. Instead of a rarity, we saw quite a few. Sometimes a whole row of attached houses would have a variety of roofs: shingle, thatched, tall short. It also put me in mind of JRR Tolkein's books. I felt like I had stepped back in time to the Shire.
